Feeling Hit by Price, Salt Bae Customer Uploads Rp 90 Million Meal Bon

Jakarta

The menus at the Salt Bae restaurant are often discussed because they are expensive. Many customers feel they have been hit by a price knock to show off their food bill.

The conversation about Salt Bae is endless. Since going viral in 2017 because of his unique style of sprinkling salt, the owner of the real name Nusret Gökçe has been in the spotlight.

Moreover, this Turkish chef has many businesses from steak restaurants to premium quality burgers. Its restaurants are spread across many countries, including Dubai to the United States.

But behind the special menu made Salt Bae, there is always a rolling conversation about the price of dining at the restaurant. Many customers complain that the menu prices are too expensive, like getting hit by a price tag.

A portion of steak, for example, can cost tens of millions of rupiah. Reportedly the steak is made from quality meat and plated with 24-carat gold sheet, but still according to many people, this price is too expensive.

Netizen Twitter account owner @5_stelly (14/3/2021) uploaded a photo of a meal receipt at the Salt Bae restaurant located in Miami, United States. It is not known for sure whether the food bill belonged to him or someone else’s.

“Is this true? Because I don’t want to talk about this anymore LOL” @5_stelly tweeted. It can be seen that the time of his visit was in 2019. For a total of six meals, the Salt Bae restaurant customer had to pay USD 6228.05 or around Rp. 90 million!

They ordered 20 menus, ranging from sushi, spaghetti, french fries, spinach vegetables, alcoholic drinks, to coffee. For steaks, there are Istanbul Sirloin, Tomahawk, and Golden Tomahawk.

Netizens were also made ‘misfocused’ with the menu prices at the Salt Bae restaurant. They think the price is too high, it feels like a knock on the price.

“I object more to the price of a USD 10 Sprite (Rp. 145 thousand) and French fries to USD 15 (Rp. 218 thousand) than my objection to the price of a steak of USD 1,000 (Rp. 14.5 million),” said one netizen.

“What’s the difference between a USD 1,000 Golden Tomahawk Steak (Rp 14.5 million) and a USD 275 Tomahawk Steak (Rp 4 million),” asked a netizen.

There is also the wrong focus with the very expensive service charge at the restaurant Salt Bae. “The service fee is USD 900 (Rp 13 million)!?,” he said. Not to mention the cost of restaurant taxes and tips that seem to be the obligation of restaurant customers in the United States.
