NEW YORK – Two New York City Police officers recovered a stolen FedEx truck after the thief stole it and drove it 70 blocks through Manhattan on Tuesday, authorities said.
The 60-year-old alleged thief allegedly stole the truck, which still had the keys in the ignition, near East 28th Street and First Avenue shortly before 10:30 a.m., according to a Daily News report.
The alleged thief of the vehicle drove it down First Avenue to 103rd Street in East Harlem, where it collided with a parked car, according to police. He jumped out of the wrecked FedEx truck and tried to take at least one package with him, but the two NYPD agents spotted him and detained him along with the load.
The alleged thief faces charges including grand theft and criminal possession of stolen property. No injuries were reported.
