Turin –
Federico Chiesa still not showing her best performance in Juventus this season. His position has been tweaked a lot by the Bianconeri coach, Massimiliano Allegri.
Last season under the direction of Andrea Pirlo, Chiesa was only deployed on the left or right side, be it as a midfielder or winger. As a result, he scored 15 goals and 11 assists in 46 matches.
That performance saw him take Italy to Euro 2020, scoring two goals during the tournament and becoming champions. But with Allegri, Chiesa again had to adapt.
According to Transfermarkt records, this season church has played in 7 different positions (including center forward and hole forward), though he has only been down 15 times. He has scored 3 goals and 3 assists, but his performances are sometimes not free from criticism, such as against AC Milan or against Chelsea.
Chiesa’s appearance against Chelsea even got a sharp spotlight by the Italian media. The son of Enrico Chiesa was rated 5 out of 10 by Corriere dello Sport, even La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport only gave it 4 out of 10.
Positions and roles that continue to change have resulted in Chiesa’s performance not being consistent at Juventus this season. Even so, Merry keep defending it.
“He (Chiesa) did well against Lazio (last weekend), had a number of chances to score goals,” said Allegri defending church, quoted by Football Italia.
“He can be dangerous in open spaces, it’s just a different story against Chelsea. The level is also different.”
“Federico has great quality, his technique is good, it’s just that he needs to work and improve like other players. But I’m happy with what he has done.” Merry.
