“It feels great to carry my family name so high in European and world football. I am proud to be the son of my father and mother,” Chiesa told Sky Sport Italia.
“It made me realize how great my father is. I spoke to him in the evening, he was very happy with the goal, but above all we qualified.”
“Unfortunately, he didn’t make it past the last 16 even in the World Cup with the national team. However, he is really happy,” Chiesa confirmed.
Chiesa did not forget to give praise to coach Roberto Mancini. The former Inter Milan tactician to Manchester City is considered very eager to build team enthusiasm.
“We played a great game, but this is thanks to the work the coach has done in the last two years, the football ideas he brings, the enthusiasm. Now the results have come,” Chiesa revealed.
“He is the strength of our group. We all love each other; the coach brought this great enthusiasm. We have to give him credit, he brought the national team back to a great level.”
“We were almost like brothers. He told us to take one step at a time,” he insisted.
