Federico Chiesa bids farewell to Juventus
The soap opera has come to an end, with a surprise in the last episode: Liverpool beat FC Barcelona to acquire Federico Chiesa. The Reds took advantage of the impasse in the negotiations between Juventus and the Blaugrana, convincing both the player and the bianconeri club who, after the arrival of Thiago Motta on the bench, had considered selling the player born in 1997.
Questioned by journalists upon his departure from Caselle airport, Chiesa took the opportunity to say his goodbyes in person: “I am very happy about the adventure that is about to begin and I would like to say goodbye to the Juventus fans for the affection they have shown me over these years. I will carry them in my heart.”
Leaving Juve is a heartbreak – added the European champion with the national team in the summer of 2021 -. However, the idea of starting a new adventure makes me happy, my family and I are impatient. Chiesa will be the seventh Italian at Liverpool after Gabriel Paletta (2006/2007), Daniele Padelli (January-June 2007), Andrea Dossena (2008 to 2010), Alberto Aquilani (2009 to 2011), Fabio Borini (2012/2013) and Mario Balotelli (2014/2015).
Born in Genoa on 25 October 1997, Federico Chiesa made his professional debut in the 2016/2017 season with Fiorentina, where he remained until his transfer to Juventus in October 2020. In addition to Euro 2020, his honours include the 2020 Italian Super Cup and the 2021 and 2024 Italian Cups, all with Juventus.
