The former world No. 1 is preparing his return, which he hopes for in the summer of 2022. But will his knee hold the shock?

Tennis “” At my age, you are never really sure what to expect, “admitted Roger Federer last July, after a loss to Pole Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. Since then, the Bâlois has undergone a third right knee operation after two previous operations in 2020, already. Between the age – 41 years on August 8, 2022 -, the long forced break without the slightest match and ever more numerous opponents, this return to the game is akin to an extraordinary challenge for a player who, it is true, does not has never been ordinary.

Next summer, when he plans to return to the courts, Roger Federer will be 41 years old. In tennis, a sport where speed and explosiveness are essential, this is a canonical age beyond which it is almost utopian to still be successful. “He still reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon while being on one leg,” recalls Yves Allegro, former doubles partner of the man with 20 great titles.
