Novak Djokovic wants to revolutionize the tennis circus. Together with Vasek Pospisil and John Isner, the world number 1 resigns from the ATP players’ council (Djokovic was president there) in order to found his own player association – the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA).
–
His “Big 3” colleagues are not there – on the contrary. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were re-elected to the ATP Players’ Council. Just like Andy Murray. They all refused to join the Serb’s newly established organization.
–
«The world is currently in a difficult situation. Personally, I think that we should go in the same direction together during these times, ”said Nadal on Twitter at the time. “It is time for unity, not for division.”

Djokovic doesn’t want conflicts
It all sounds like a huge competitive battle. “Team Djokovic” against “Team ATP”: A duel that for once cannot be decided on the court. But the Serb repeatedly emphasizes that he is by no means looking for a conflict with the ATP.
–
“As you know, I am part of the PTPA, an organization that was recently founded with no intention of coming into conflict with the ATP,” said Djokovic. The Serb continues: “Although the PTPA has made it clear that it does not want to be combative, it is unclear how the ATP will see the association in the future.”

Djokovic himself is preparing for a power struggle. It remains to be seen how this will shape the new tennis year. (red)
