The adventure is coming to an end for Dominic Thiem. Winner of the US Open in 2020, the Austrian will definitely put his rackets away at home in Vienna. For this event, the player invited numerous tennis personalities, notably the famous big 3 (Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer). So far, no one has responded to this invitation.
The end of the season is approaching and this conclusion should be accompanied by a few tears. In fact, many players are planning to hang it up at the end of this year. This is the case of Dominic Thiem, winner of the’US Open in 2020 and a two-time Roland-Garros finalist. Aged 31, the Austrian never recovered from a serious wrist injury suffered in 2021.

Thiem undermined by his wrist
« My wrist is not the way it should be and the way I would like it to be. I have been thinking about this decision for a long time, I thought about it very carefully. I of course also thought about my career in tennis, which was incredible. I had success and won trophies I never dreamed of. I am very grateful for this experience. But I came to the conclusion that the decision to end my career this year is the only right decision” had declared Thiem last May.
Thiem summons the Big 3
Back down to 275th place, Thiem received an invitation to participate in the Vienna tournament, the last of his career. “ I’m happy that things have come full circle. There will also be relief” confided the player. Emotion should slowly winr Thiemwho sent the invitations to a few work colleagues. “I invited Federer, Nadal and Djokovic to my farewell party, but no one has come forward yet” he declared in comments reported byWe Love Tennis. Retired from the field, Roger Federer could make the trip. But it’s hard to imagine crossing Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic in the Austrian enclosure. But there is no doubt that the two legends will shoot a short video to pay tribute to the man we nicknamed the young Mozart.
