Federer (43) and Nadal (38) dominated world tennis for years, most recently with Novak Djokovic (37) for several years. Federer ended his career two years ago at the Laver Cup in London. In his last match he played doubles with Nadal. At the following farewell service for Switzerland, the two superstars sat next to each other crying.
Tears shared at Federer’s farewell
“Sharing the place with you that night and sharing those tears will forever be one of the most special moments of my career,” the Swiss wrote.
Nadal has announced that he will end his career at the Davis Cup finals in Malaga this week. In the evening (5 pm) meet Spain in the quarter-finals against the Netherlands. It is not yet clear whether the 22-time Grand Slam winner, who has not played at all due to injuries, will play.
