Federer announces retirement from last week’s Laver Cup

“Tennis Emperor” Roger Federer (41, Switzerland) has announced on the 15th (local time) via his social networking service that he will be retiring after the Laver Cup tournament to be held in London next week.

He said, “As many of you know, I have suffered injuries and surgery for the past three years.

“I have played over 1,500 games in 24 years and tennis has treated me much more generously than I ever dreamed of,” he said.

“Next week’s Laver Cup will be my last tournament in ATP,” Federer said.
