Sandino was the headquarters of the provincial act in Pinar del Río for the 63rd anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), a municipality that stands out for the systematic work in the internal functioning of the organization, the percentage of integration and the quality of the balance process XI Congress.
Among other achievements, the western territory that obtained the status of Provincial Vanguard, stands out for its economic indicators, the stability of the leaders, the incorporation of young people to positions at the grassroots level and for the attention to families, women in situations of vulnerability and communities in transformation, according to Danivia Borges Machuat, general secretary of the FMC in Vueltabajo.
Meanwhile, the municipalities of Guane, San Luis and Consolación del Sur received the status of Outstanding.
When assessing the annual work of the FMC in the territory, Borges Machuat emphasized that of the 11 municipalities, six were vanguards in national emulation: Sandino, Guane, San Luis, Viñales, Consolación del Sur and La Palma.
He specified that on Monday, August 22, they will hold a meeting between women from the tobacco sector of the municipalities of Pinar del Río, San Luis, San Juan y Martínez and Consolación del Sur, the latter will be the venue.
During the day of activities, the FMC presented a group of members with the 23 de Agosto distinction, which the organization grants to affiliates with an outstanding career and work in the fight for the full exercise of women’s equality.
