Federal Theater Award to Schwankhalle in Bremen

The Schwankhalle in Bremen is a performance and production facility for the city’s independent scene. Now the stage receives the Federal Theater Award – and with it 200,000 euros. As the Minister of State for Culture Roth announced, the Hessian State Theater in Marburg, the Ernst Barlach Theater in Güstrow and the FELD Theater for young audiences in Berlin will also be honored. Each of them will receive 100,000 euros in prize money. The green politician Roth emphasized that it is important to support smaller theaters in particular. They are important sources of inspiration, offer space for alternative perspectives and represent diversity. According to Roth, theaters are also places of dialogue and democracy. The awards will be presented on October 2 at a gala at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
