In continuity with what was announced in recent weeks, the Federal Revenue Agency confirmed its intention to launch the “Emarat Tax” platform on 5 December.
The authority said that the process of switching from the current electronic tax system to the “Emarat Tax” electronic platform will start at the end of November 30, and work will resume through the platform starting December 5, 2022.
During the implementation of its transition plan to the new platform, the Authority wanted to make the transition easier in order to limit its impact on the transactions carried out by the Authority’s customers, having deemed it appropriate to complete the transition procedures before a sufficient time for the filing of tax returns and the payment of the taxes due, and that the changeover takes place during a holiday period.
The new platform significantly improves how taxpayers can access Federal Tax Authority services, pay taxes and obtain refunds. The platform also supports the authority’s ability to manage the tax system in the UAE, enables decision support processes and provides proactive services to taxpayers.
The launch of the new electronic platform ‘Emarat Tax’ is in line with the UAE Digital Government Strategy for 2025 and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to take advantage of modern technologies and create an integrated digital infrastructure that serves all categories of customers and the business community of the country.
By launching the ‘Emirates Tax’ platform, taxpayers will be able to benefit from the newly developed system which offers many features, as it has been designed in collaboration with concessionaires to bring a quantum leap in tax management mechanisms. continue until the first quarter of next year to roll out additional services and features in stages, including the launch of smart phone application of “Emarat Tax”.
As part of the Federal Tax Authority’s efforts to improve communication with taxpayers and all categories of customers and to learn more about the main features of the “Emirates Tax” platform, the Authority is holding a series of daily virtual workshops during the month of November, allowing the institution’s clients to participate at the rate of two workshops a day.
The Authority has launched a special section on its website to introduce the ‘Emirates Tax’ platform, which includes detailed information on the mechanism of using the new platform, how-to videos, all common questions about the platform with their answers and details on participation to the virtual daily introductory labs.
In addition to these outreach mechanisms, the Authority will send all important developments and information directly to registered taxpayers via the email addresses of each person registered with the Authority.
