Federal police want to be able to flash up to 350 km per hour

The federal police has submitted a file to the FPS Economy to adjust the homologation of speed cameras. That should make it possible to flash speed demons that drive faster than 300 km per hour, which is not yet possible.

‘The request will be studied and discussed with the various stakeholders’, says Etienne Mignolet of the FPS Economy. “The final decision will be made at the political level.”

The reason for the request is a speed demon who flew past a checkpoint on the E313 at 306 kilometers per hour in October. The officer in the car determined the violation, but the NK7 speed camera did not flash.

The rules for speed cameras are laid down in a royal decree, which stipulates that the maximum speed that can be set with such cameras is 300 kilometers per hour. The driver could therefore not be prosecuted for excessive speed.
