Federal Police to Investigate Nazi and Neo-Nazi Groups After Brazilian Kindergarten Attack

The Federal Police of Brazil will investigate the actions of “Nazi and neo-Nazis” groups in the country, after the attack on a kindergarten in the city of Blumenau in which they were four children murdered and of another similar episode that occurred eleven days ago in Sao Paulo.

”I have now signed an order for the Federal Police to initiate an investigation into Nazi and/or neo-Nazi organizations in Brazil, since there are signs of interregional action”, said the Minister of Justice, Flavio Dino, on his social networks.

Dino associated the increasingly frequent attacks on schools with factors such as “the proliferation of hate in society due to an unregulated internet and irresponsible companies”, “incentives for weapons and the ideology of death” and the actions of ” Nazi and neo-Nazis groups.

Dino’s decision also coincides with the disclosure, last Sunday, of a report on the Globo network that revealed connections between Brazilians and an international white supremacist organization in the south of the country, and with two attacks on educational centers in the country in less than two weeks.


Brazil nursery massacre

On Wednesday, a 25-year-old man with a criminal record invaded a day care center and axed four children to death and injured four others ranging in age from three to seven.

The attacker turned himself in to the authorities and remains in custody, while the experts try to clarify the circumstances of this brutal crime by inspecting his cell phone and his social networks.

The Brazilian government announced on Wednesday the creation of a working group to combat school violence and offered 150 million reais (30 million dollars) to municipalities that wish to strengthen security around schools.

The Blumenau massacre, a sleepy city of about 400,000 inhabitants in the southern state of Santa Catarina, took place ten days after another attack occurred in a school in Sao Paulowhere a 13-year-old teenager stabbed a teacher to death and injured four other people.

According to official reports, the attacks on Brazilian educational centersthey have killed 40 students and teachers in the last twenty years.
