Federal police gets new riding school of 11 million euros, and not everyone is happy with that

The cavalry of the federal police gets a new riding school in Tubize, Walloon Brabant. That was decided this week in the lap of the government. The hundred horses of the federal police are moving there. The cost is 11 million euros.

The Haras de Wisbecq riding school in Tubize will now house the hundred horses of the federal police cavalry. It is a huge riding school of 16 hectares with several covered slopes and 145 boxes for the horses.

The purchase causes some teeth gnashing among police officers. “There is no money for wage surcharges, but it is not enough for the horses”, it sounds. Yet trade unionist Eddy Quaino (ACOD) thinks this is a good thing. “The federal police have three major problems. Wages are too low, operating resources are insufficient and the infrastructure is dilapidated. We can only applaud the fact that people are already investing in infrastructure. Horses remain important for the fedpol, just look at the commitment during the BOUM parties in Brussels. This purchase is a good start, now for the wages and the rest.”
