The federal police encountered a group of seven migrants in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Sunday evening (November 17th). According to initial findings, their previous trip on a regional train from Austria to Germany was organized by smugglers.

During the border police check at the Garmisch-Partenkirchner train station, none of the seven people could show a passport or a visa. According to their own statements, they come from Turkey and have family ties to each other. They explained that they had previously boarded a train in Innsbruck. This trip – like the other stages via Bosnia and Hungary – was planned by smugglers. In total, those behind the smuggling organization demanded 2,250 euros per person.

The seven Turkish nationals were taken to the local federal police station. The officials there initiated investigations into the obvious illegal entry attempts and into the smuggling of foreigners. Since the Turks were seeking protection because they belonged to the Kurdish ethnic group, they were sent to a reception center for asylum seekers in Munich.
