In its most likely scenario, the State Secretariat for Migration expects 27,000 asylum applications in Switzerland by 2023. In addition, there are around 66,000 people with protection status S who fled the Ukraine war.
According to the Federal Council, further structures must be set up in good time so that Switzerland can continue to accommodate all people seeking protection and avoid an additional burden on the cantons.
