Federal chamber approves bill for Washington DC to become state 51

The measure now passes to the Republican-controlled federal Senate, where it has little chance of being approved, it reported. “USA Today”.

President Trump has also spoken out against the annexation of the district.

State 51 would be called Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, and would have two senators and one representative.

The Democratic representative, Steny Hoyer, told the newspaper “The Daily Mail” that it seemed appropriate to use “Washington, Douglass Commonwealth” because it merges the names of two important American leaders, one black and one white.
