He President of the Federation of Truck Owners of the Fifth Region (Fedequinta), Iván Mateluna, responded to the criticism made by the manager of the Logistics Community of San Antonio (Colsa), Pilar Larraín, who rejected the blockade carried out on Friday, January 22, by a carrier of the group in the access to DP World San Antonio. The representative of Fedequinta pointed out that the manager is not “giving the width of what we need.”

In dialogue with PortalPortuario.clMateluna stated that “we do not endorse or accept the criticism made by Pilar Larraín, from Colsa, because she has not been giving the breadth of what we need in the face of situations and problems. These problems did not arise now. When she talks about agreements, conversations, that there are tables with the carriers, the times these issues have been discussed, the people who take responsibility say keep participating ”.

“She is clear about it and she knows it, because she has no power, she is not empowered. The powers that port companies in Chile have today in relation to concessionaires are practically limited, the concessionaire makes and breaks in the terminals. That is why we called EPSA the other day to be the guarantor and in Valparaíso we are also going to call EPV, so that they can place the points on the heis ”, added the leader of the trucking union.

With regard to Valparaíso, the Fedequinta representative indicated that “what is happening does not correspond, there is also a serious problem with the issue of container classification. Trucks stay overnight if a lot of trucks arrive in the day, they don’t have the capacity there at Zeal to be able to sort them so that a container can be delivered to the terminal. The terminal does not receive it if it does not go with those concepts that it imposed on you. So all these situations don’t have to involve us, if we are mere freight transporters ”.

Additionally, the president of the federation said that “in addition, all the systems that are involved today are systems that raise taxes, those that were imposed by the terminals. They were never agreed with the carriers. So, when it comes to agreements and meetings, we have never reached an agreement ”.

“This comes from years. It turns out that a port terminal had to be blocked so that there could be a real response from the terminal. Will we have to block all three for there to be a different answer? Because the Ministry of Transport abandoned us, we have no one to represent us, we have no one to get involved in the issue of port logistics. Someone has to help us, because if we don’t get anything out of continuing to argue and fight, we are going to have to block all the terminals, ”Mateluna stressed.

The leader pointed out that “the issue is complex, I feel that we are on everyone’s lips and in the hands of no one, especially the logistics communities, the logistics communities are mere conversations, they are not decisive, therefore, while Colsa and Folovap they are not decisive and there someone acts as the superintendent to solve the problems, we will always continue with this type of reaction that does not lead us to any good port, because nobody likes to block a terminal ”.

“Nobody likes to block a container depot, but unfortunately it is the only way that we have that those who today have the dominant position can understand that they are abusing”, said the president of the Federation of Truck Owners of the Quinta Region.
