Caracas.- The National Federation of Cattlemen (Fedenaga) reiterated this Sunday its call to the National Assembly (AN) to stimulate the results of the dialogue undertaken with the productive sectors, emphasizing that the union it represents urges for security, both personal and legal, to be able to continue producing and thus guarantee the food plate of Venezuelans.
Luis Prado, vice president of Fedenaga, highlighted that among the most serious problems affecting the livestock sector today are cattle ranching, as well as the lack of financing for primary production, to which must be added the issue of the shortage of diesel .
He emphasized that “they went to the dialogue process with great hope of constructing quick responses to the proposals presented and that, after two months, they have not obtained any achievement. We are in the hands of a subcommittee of the National Assembly that has paid a lot of attention, however, given the diverse range of requests that we have made, we continue to await a response, “he said.
Among the proposals made before the Parliamentary Commission, the livestock sector highlighted the need for a reform of the Law on Criminal Protection of Livestock Activity, in order to combat a serious crime that is cattle rustling, a crime that threatens agri-food safety and against provisions constitutional laws that the State has with national producers to guarantee the agri-food security of Venezuelans.
He considers it necessary to respond with priority schemes: “The call is to accelerate actions, for the sector security is fundamental, without security there is no possibility that we can guarantee the plate of food for Venezuelans. greatest effort, and with the greatest disinterest and the greatest purpose. ” –
Diesel import
Regarding the issue of diesel, Prado reported that they have raised the possibility of trying to import the fuel, even temporarily, while it is solved because 80% of the field equipment works with fuel.
“We are already entering the rainy season, we must do weed control, fertilization in case we can get supplies. In the case of milk production, many have mechanical milking that needs to move with diesel for the electrical issue (…) Everything this affects the national production and then the supply. Without fuel there is no possibility that they will pick up the production, “he explained.
