Fears of a repeat of the “October 7” scenario on the Lebanese border!

Israeli media spoke about the state of fear prevailing in the northern settlements, close to the Lebanese border, amid assurances that the settlers will not return to their homes.

The Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” said in its editorial, “Israel cannot tolerate Hezbollah’s actions with impunity on the border.”

The newspaper explained that settlers living in the border communities in the north launched a campaign on social media this week under the title “1701 or 10.07.” The newspaper reported that the number 1701 refers to the UN Security Council resolution that ended the Second Lebanon War in 2006. As for the date 10.07, it refers to October 7.

The Israeli newspaper said that the campaign’s message is clear: “Move Hezbollah beyond the Litani River – away from the border, where it monitors Israeli population centers such as Metulla and Zarit. Otherwise, it is only a matter of time before what happened in the south on October 7 is repeated at the hands of a force.” Hezbollah’s Radwan commando.

She pointed out that “the temporary ceasefire in the south, a truce that Hezbollah took it upon itself to respect in the north as well, brought a few days of calm. But with the weapons temporarily silenced, Hezbollah fighters once again reappeared directly on the border.”

The newspaper reported that in a meeting on Tuesday between settlement leaders in the north and senior Israeli army officers, including Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy, pictures and videos of armed Hezbollah men were shown again on the border, stressing that “this is something that Israel cannot do.” “You bear it.”

Meanwhile, the newspaper said that the mayor of Kiryat Shmona, Avichai Stern, said at a meeting on Tuesday that he was surprised when he saw pictures and videos of Hezbollah fighters.

The mayor of Kiryat Shmona said: “They promised us that we would no longer see Hezbollah on the border, and that anyone on the border would be shot, but in fact they returned.”

He added, “What prevents them from shooting Kalashnikovs from the fence at civilians in the border towns? After October 7, does anyone have any doubts about the intentions, threats, and capabilities of our enemies outside the borders?”

In turn, the head of the local council in Metulla, David Azoulay, said, “Israel must understand that if Hezbollah is not pushed beyond the Litani, there will be no state here. We are facing a second war of independence for the sake of our existence. Every Arab country, Iran and Hezbollah “God is watching us, and if we do not deal with the northern threat, they will see our weakness.”
