Nevertheless, our federal government is now working on a refinement of the gas shutdown plan, under the motto: “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst”. After all, there is a European solidarity mechanism and it is therefore theoretically possible that shortages in other countries have consequences for our country.
“Although you have to take into account that those countries must first activate their emergency plan themselves, and switch off their unprotected customers themselves,” says Peter Claes of Febeliec, the federation of industrial large-scale consumers. “We can only be called upon to help keep their protected customers connected.”
