Eraser – A week after the Nyiragongo spewed its lava over the Congolese city of Goma, another eruption is imminent. More than half a million people have now fled, and not just from possible lava flows. Experts are concerned about the vast reserves of methane and carbon dioxide stored in Lake Kivu. These could rise to the surface during ongoing seismicity, killing hundreds of thousands of people in Goma, as well as neighboring Gisenyi in Rwanda.
