The leading US indices fell from the start on Monday – and the decline continues throughout the evening.
At 19.05, the three leading indices on Wall Street look like this:
- The S&P 500 is experiencing a fall of 1.82 percent.
- The Nasdaq Composite is down 1.93 percent.
- The Dow Jones is down 1.86 percent.
During opening hours, the broad stock market index S&P 500 fell 1.33 percent, Monday afternoon Norwegian time. Furthermore, the technology index Nasdaq Composite fell 1.6 percent from the start. The industry-heavy stock market index Dow Jones opened down 1.4 percent from the start.
All three stock market indices ended last week with a decline. The stock markets fell by an average of 0.9 per cent on Friday.
It is pointed out that increasing omicron infection in large parts of Europe and Asia and fears of interest rate changes characterize the market, at the same time as high inflation hangs over the market. Furthermore, there is uncertainty about whether Biden’s stimulus package will come through Congress.

In particular, fears of closure and restrictions that will put restrictions on the economy sow fears in the financial markets on Monday.
