New Delhi: In the wake of the increase in Covid cases in China and other countries, the Center has alerted states.
The Union Health Department has written to all states to send samples of positive cases to genome sequencing laboratories as a matter of priority. The US, Japan, Korea, Brazil and China have seen a huge increase in Covid cases. In this case the genome sequencing of positive cases should be increased. These should be monitored by the Indian SARS-CoV2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG). In this way, new varieties can be found in the country. Through this, the necessary public health measures can be taken – states the letter sent to the States by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health Rajesh Bhushan.
After strict restrictions were lifted in China, there has been an increase in the number of Covid cases. The spread of the new covid variant is being studied by the health department in the United States and elsewhere.
