The Andalusian Federation of Relatives and People with Mental Illness (FEAFES Andalucía Salud Mental), has opened the period for receiving candidatures for the second edition of its Artistic Expression Contest “Art to heal the soul” which this year, in addition to Literary and Poetry and Short Stories, it opens to the disciplines of Painting and Drawing, and Photography.
The objective of this contest is to promote artistic creation as a means of expression, giving visibility and normalization to mental health problems, helping to break the stigmas that persist on it and promote a cultural and social change in favor of its inclusion in all areas of life.
The contest, organized with the collaboration of the pharmaceutical company LundbeckIt is open to the participation of any person residing in Spain and consists of 3 contests, the Literary one with two prizes, one for the best Short Story and the other for the best Poetry; another on Photography that will have an economic award for the best photo and 12 more mentions and will be the works that will illustrate the Federation’s calendar for the year 2022; and a Painting or Artistic Drawing contest.
Each of the prizes will be 250 euros (4 prizes are contemplated for the best poem and short story, the best painting and the best photography)
The deadline to participate ends on October 10 and the ruling will be made public the first week of November.
A jury will be constituted for each of the modalities.
The works submitted to the different modalities must revolve around mental health, contributing to the inclusion of the group in society. Works that move away from a stigmatizing vision and that contribute to the elimination of prejudices will be positively valued.
