Bremen (dpa / lni) – The FDP federal chairman Christian Lindner criticized the climate protection package of the red-green-red Bremen Senate worth billions during an election campaign appearance in Bremen. “Here in Bremen, climate change is now being declared a general crisis over the next few years and decades in order to circumvent the debt brake,” said the finance minister on Monday. “I’m very worried because, in the end, debt is debt. The interest doesn’t care why the debt was taken out.”
The Bremen government alliance of the SPD, the Greens and the Left Party decided on a package worth 2.5 billion euros shortly before the election. This is intended to promote climate protection and the conversion of Bremen’s economy to sustainability. The Bremen government regards the climate crisis as an emergency similar to the corona pandemic before it.
As Federal Minister of Finance, Lindner is responsible for disbursing federal restructuring aid for the heavily indebted state of Bremen. In Bremen there will be elections next Sunday (May 14).
