FDNY: Voracious fire leaves several injured in Bronx residence

NEW YORK — A three-alarm fire that occurred Friday in the Bronx left at least five people injured, one of them with potentially life-threatening injuries, the Fire Department announced.

More than 100 firefighters tried to control the fire that occurred at around 6:16 am on the top floor of a 6-story home located in the 2309 Holland Avenuein the neighborhood of Allerton, the firefighters said. Almost an hour later they managed to rescue 5 people, one of them in critical condition, one with serious life-threatening injuries, two with serious injuries and one with minor injuries.

So far the names of the victims and the cause of the accident have not been released.

The authorities investigate.
