“FDA Approves Arexvy Vaccine for Elderly Population to Prevent Bronchiolitis”

This vaccine can be administered to people aged 60 and over as of the next epidemic season. The authorization concerns the vaccine Arexvy which was developed by the pharmaceutical giant GSK. The agreement was given by the American Medicines Agency (FDA). Peter Marks, an official in the FDA, assures that this authorization represents “an important achievement in public health to prevent a disease which can be fatal”.

On our continent, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) issued a favorable opinion on this same vaccine. The European Commission must make its decision in the coming months.

Each year, bronchiolitis leads to tens of thousands of deaths. The highly contagious virus is best known among young children in winter, but can also affect adults and be dangerous for the elderly.
