The four construction companies that bid for the renovation works of the Real Madrid CF stadium have presented their economic proposals that amount to some 500 million euros. FCC, Ferrovial, Acciona and San José could start working at the Santiago Bernabéu this summer for iinaugurate the new merengue coliseum in 2023.
The football clubs are fully involved in the reform of their stadiums and after the failed change of headquarters of Valencia CF, the premiere of the impressive Wanda Metropolitano of Club Atlético de Madrid and the new San Mamés of Athletic Club de Bilbao, the reform arrives from the Santiago Bernabéu stadium of Real Madrid CF. The works of the Camp Nou of FC Barcelona are also expected.

Among the conditions that the construction companies have to fulfill is that of changing its current façade, eliminating the side towers, a new grandstand with 3,000 seats on the east side, enabling new accesses, enabling new recreation areas and, most strikingly, with the installation of a retractable roof.
The works would start from this summer and would last for three years, although it is estimated that the new Santiago Bernabéu will not be completed until 2023. Added to the implementation is the difficulty that the stadium must remain accessible during the season.
Finally, it seems that Real Madrid will opt for a own debt of up to 575 million euros after the agreement with the owners of Cepsa to sponsor the merengue coliseum failed.
