Patric Pfeiffer will play for the reigning Swiss champions BSC Young Boys in the coming season. The 24-year-old central defender, who was rested in the dress rehearsal against Olympique Marseille due to a slight injury and can return to full training this week, is moving to Bern on loan for a year. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the amount of the loan fee.
Opportunity for international assignments
Pfeiffer, who joined from Darmstadt on a free transfer last season and played eleven times for FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, is expected to gain important match practice at Young Boys. The 1.96
meter tall defender the chance to play internationally. In the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League, the Bernese will face the Turkish top club Galatasaray at the end of August. “After open and constructive discussions with those responsible, I have come to the conclusion that a new challenge is the best option for my development. It is a good opportunity to gain valuable playing time on loan with a strong team like Bern. The chance to play in European competitions and gain experience abroad is also very appealing, in order to then return to FCA strengthened for the coming season,” says Patric Pfeiffer, whose contract in Augsburg runs until June 30, 2027.
