FC Volendam – TOP Oss: 4 – 0 (3 – 0)

FC Volendam booked their first league win of the new season on Saturday afternoon. In the Kermisshirt, TOP Oss was defeated 4 – 0.
The duel in the Kras Stadium started with two teams feeling each other out. We didn’t see any big chances in the opening phase, until Henk Veerman suddenly came face to face with goalkeeper Mike Havekotte after nine minutes. The visitors’ goalie launched the striker, after which the ball went to the spot. Robert Mühren completed the job and shot in the liberating 1 – 0.
Despite TOP Oss trying, the Volendammers remained the most dangerous. Bilal Ould-Chikh posed a lot of threat on the right. With a free kick, he found the head of Xavier Mbuyamba. The tall defender headed the ball wide of the goal. Veerman also had a good opportunity, but with a shot over the keeper, he hit the roof of the goal. After more than half an hour of football, the score was doubled. Veerman controlled the ball well in the penalty area and laid it off for Alex Plat. The midfielder shot the ball neatly into the corner from the edge of the sixteen. He not only made it 2 – 0, but also his first goal in the shirt of FC Volendam.
After a good opportunity for Ould-Chikh – where he shot the ball past the goal after a nice move – it was the other winger who provided a third goal. Aurelio Oehlers shot the ball hard into the corner behind Havekotte from a distance. Rick Kruys’ men could thus go to the dressing room with a comfortable 3 – 0 lead.
Conviction
After the tea it was Oehlers again who managed to make his mark. The attacker was freed up on the left side of the field and could steam towards Havekotte. The summer signing then remained cool and shot the ball into the far corner.
After this 4-0 the game image collapsed somewhat. FC Volendam did not need to anymore and TOP Oss did try, but constantly came up against the Volendam defense. Just before time another highlight followed for Luca Blondeau. He made his debut in the first team while the fans sang. As a result he also witnessed the final whistle and thus the 4-0 victory in the Kras Stadium.
MVV Maastricht away
FC Volendam is off next week, due to international football. On Friday 13 September, an away match against MVV Maastricht awaits. Kick-off in De Geusselt is at 20:00.
