The signs were similar to seven months ago. Thalwil lost 6-1 against the Winterthur youth team, but redeemed themselves a few days later with a 2-1 win in Uzwil. Now it even lost 6-0 against Winterthur last Wednesday. That prompted coach Sergio Dias to throw in the beg after the final whistle and still on the pitch.
The reconciliation of the Thalwil players with the fans three days later did not happen. That was down to FC Uzwil, who were wide awake from the start on Saturday and were willing to take the three points with them to eastern Switzerland. This succeeded convincingly at 3:0.
Newcomer Fabio Moser scores in the starting phase
The start of the second half of the season could not have gone better for Uzwil. After a Nushi corner, Fabio Moser reacted the quickest and hammered the ball into the net for Uzwil’s lead. Not only was the winter transfer present in that scene, he was an asset for the full ninety minutes.
The elation in the Uzwil ranks was almost punished. It took a powerful Timon Waldvogel in goal, who prevented the equalizer twice in a quick reaction.
After that, however, the guests were clearly in control and had several opportunities to expand the score. Getuart Asani missed the greatest chance when he ran in between after a back pass that was too short. However, his final attempt only landed on the post.
Thalwil presses for the compensation
If the guests were the better team in half-time 1, the game evened out after the change of sides. Thalwil managed to increase the pressure, but the Zurich team was denied a sense of achievement. This was also due to the Uzwiler defence, which allowed less dangerous scenes in front of their own goal.
After the final whistle, coach Armando Müller was happy about what he had seen throughout the season: “We were aware that it would be a tough fight. The transition from the all-weather pitch to the artificial turf wasn’t easy. Then we worked towards it. But we earned the win over the ninety minutes because we also had the better actions in terms of play. »
Andreas Lo Re shaped the final phase
Andreas Lo Re, who came on for Getuart Asani after 65 minutes, deserved special praise. But before he scored to make it 2-0 after a cross from Tolga Cakir, who was also on the bench, it took another brilliant effort from Waldvogel to prevent the equaliser.
Luca Lanzendorfer put the finishing touch to a successful start to the second half of the season in injury time. He completed a back pass from Andreas Lo Re to make it 0:3. Goalkeeper Rosario Filippone got his fingertips in but couldn’t stop the third goal.
After this convincing performance, Uzwil seem ready for the derby on the Rüti against Gossau next Saturday.
