FC Utrecht supporters massively pay their last respects to the shooting victim

Amid great interest, the victim of the shooting at a café in Utrecht was taken to his final resting place this afternoon. According to the police, about 1,100 people were standing along the route, many of them supporters of FC Utrecht.

The victim of the shooting was Paul Kros (37), a known member of the hard core of the football club, reports RTV Utrecht.

The shooting took place on Saturday evening, October 9, at café de Plak on Vleutenseweg. It is still unclear what exactly happened. Police say the victim intervened in an argument and was accidentally shot and killed.

Police arrested a 39-year-old suspect on Friday.

Honorary hague of torches

Kros’s funeral started this afternoon at the Franciscusdreef, where a singer performed. This was followed by a guard of honor with torches. The funeral procession, accompanied by the police, went to the Daelwijck cemetery. Fireworks were set off on arrival. About five hundred people said goodbye at the cemetery itself.

Immediately after the shooting, Mayor Dijksma closed café de Plak for a month.
