FC Utrecht draws attention to the importance of mental health

‘Unbox Yourself and Unbox Someone Else’ focuses on the mental complaints among young people and what they can do about it. That it is important to speak to peers or confidants if things are not going well. That it is part of life and they are not alone in this. The campaign also focuses on the environment of young people, with a focus on parents, teachers, (football) coaches and friends.

FC Utrecht draws attention to ‘Unbox Yourself and Unbox Someone Else’ around the home game with RKC Waalwijk. In the run-up to the Eredivisie match in Galgenwaard Stadium, boxes with written words that represent various mental complaints can be seen in various places, both online and during the line-up of the match in the stadium.

“Stress, anxiety, performance pressure, sadness. These are items that are part of life, but which young people should suffer as little as possible. And if it is the case, there should be people in their immediate environment who can help.” “, says General Manager Thijs van Es of FC Utrecht. “We hope to be able to address the subject together with the municipality of Utrecht and ultimately make a difference for these young people.”

To promote concrete action, FC Utrecht and the municipality of Utrecht offer a program in collaboration with the Play Mental Foundation, where young people are invited to talk openly about mental health. Monthly sessions are organized at schools or sports clubs where young people can discuss this theme (step over the line). The first session will take place on October 10, Mental Health Day, in Galgenwaard Stadium with a large group of ROC students.
