FC star Littbarski shows funny video: Gaming, smoking & drinking

In 504 games for 1. FC Köln, Pierre Littbarski (64) dribbled his way into the hearts of the fans. In his time, the FC was still regularly represented in international business, won the DFB Cup in 1983 and Litti became world champion in 1990.

On August 15, 2024, Litti showed that the players also had an extremely humorous time back then. The former world-class player posted a video on Instagram from the 1992 season. More precisely, from the training camp in Seefeld.

At that time, the players were sensationally creative and created their own “mock show”, which was moderated in the video by goalkeeper Alexander Bade.

Olaf Janßen, Pierre Littbarski and Uwe Fuchs sang the opening music themselves, then Rico Steinmann interviewed the then coach Jörg Berger. The coach, who died far too early in 2010, raved about the conditions in Seefeld/Austria. In the pictures shown, the professionals were standing in a building ruin instead of in a luxury hotel. The training area was in the run-out of a ski jump.

Berger also praised the optimal conditions for the medical department. Scenes were then shown from a horse stable, where players were rubbed with straw so that they could gallop like racehorses. Simply wonderful!

And what about gambling and alcohol? Berger also said: “Alcohol is taboo and the players are so exhausted after training that I can’t imagine them playing cards.”

A little later, the players around Littbarski, Horst Heldt and co-trainer Hannes Linßen were seen at the gambling table playing poker, complete with cigars and hard drinks. Frank Greiner had to provide supplies as “Schmal” and was sent away with a banknote.

Speaking of money: Back then, there were already accusations that footballers were only interested in business. Litti and Heldt then took aim at the topic in a mock interview. Litti: “These accusations are exaggerated.” But a good conversation with Heldt did not materialize because Litti was selling shares on the phone and then broke off to rush off to a business meeting.

Many fans are enthusiastic about the acting skills of the FC professionals of the time: “How cool is that! Good old days!” is what one of the comments says. Or: “World class!”
