Second division football club FC St. Pauli has signed Luxembourg international Danel Sinani. The outside player is coming from English second division club Norwich City on a free transfer, the Hamburg club announced on Tuesday. FC St. Pauli did not provide any information about the term of the contract with the 26-year-old.
“Danel Sinani has a very good eye for his teammates, looks for a direct duel with opponents and moves skillfully in the gaps,” said coach Fabian Hürzeler. In addition, Sinani is a good standard shooter and robust in a duel, “he can bring us ball conquests that are important for our game”.
Sinani had also played for Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town in addition to Norwich in the English second division. In 65 games in the English Championship he has scored seven goals and provided six assists. From 2017 to 2020, the offensive player was active in Luxembourg at F91 Dudelange and scored 46 times in 99 games. He also played with the club in the European Cup.
“I found out about FC St. Pauli and got very good feedback,” said Sinani, who was born in Belgrade. The talks with sports director Andreas Bornemann and coach Hürzeler had shown me “that I have a great opportunity here to play challenging football”. Before him, FC St. Pauli had signed Hauke Wahl (Holstein Kiel), Philipp Treu (SC Freiburg II) and Andreas Albers (Jahn Regensburg) for the new season.
