FC Schalke defended its lead in the U17 Bundesliga with a derby win at Rot-Weiss Essen.
In the U17 Bundesliga West, the derby between Rot-Weiss Essen and FC Schalke was scheduled for Wednesday. Both teams started the season well.
Schalke was in first place after ten games, RWE in a strong sixth place. FC Schalke was able to confirm the good start to the season, winning 2-0 (2-0) in Essen.
Before the game, RWE coach Michael Delura, who also has a Schalke past, emphasized to RS: “Nobody expects anything from us against Schalke. The absolute top favorite is coming. After Essen’s Mats Preßler missed the chance to make it 1-1, shortly before the break it was Alan Takoudjou Somolinos who scored the 2-0 for Schalke. It was the decision, because after the break only Schalke played for a long time.
RWE tried to hold back, but the Knappen, who were closer to 3-0 than Essen were, had the better chances. Schalke remains unbeaten, as does Bayer Leverkusen. And the two teams will meet each other shortly.
