The international break begins with bad news for FC Schalke 04. Two players were injured in the 1:3 defeat against 1. FC Köln: Moussa Sylla and Ibrahima Cisse.
The injury could have bitter consequences for Moussa Sylla. The FC Schalke 04 striker was actually due to leave for the national team in the coming days. It is still unclear whether he will take part in the international matches.
FC Schalke 04: Sylla has to take a break
Moussa Sylla suffered an adductor strain against 1. FC Cologne. The club officially announced this on Monday afternoon (2 September). Sylla played the full 90 minutes of the 1:3 defeat, but was unable to score a goal.

He was actually supposed to be playing with Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in the coming days. On September 6th they would play against Mozambique, and on September 10th Mali would face Eswatini. It is still unclear whether Sylla will make the trip anyway.
“Regarding his nomination for the Malian national team, those responsible at FC Schalke 04 have contacted the association and informed them of his injury,” was all that Royal Blue said in its press release. A decision has apparently not yet been made.

Cisse also injured
In addition to Sylla, Ibrahima Cisse is also currently having to take a break. He is suffering from muscular problems in his thigh after the Cologne game and was therefore unable to train with the team on Monday. Vitalie Becker was also absent due to groin problems.
There is also bitter news from Ralf Fährmann. The goalkeeper, who is currently training with the U23 team, will be out for a long time with a torn lateral ligament in his knee.
