Central fulfills punishment against Famalicão after red in the derby with Boavista.

Iván Marcano was sent off in the derby against Boavista, in round 30 of the championship, and will serve a suspension against Famalicão, in the second leg of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup.

“Although Marcano managed to gain importance in the FC Porto team, I think it won’t be a headache for Sérgio Conceição, because in addition to Fábio Cardoso there is also David Carmo”, said Rui Quinta, coach and former assistant of the dragons, to Renaissance Radio.

“It is evident that Famalicão has natural expectations of being able to reverse the result of the tie, but FC Porto feels that, in its stadium, it has the opportunity to qualify for another final of the Portuguese Cup. I believe it will be a competitive game. and that FC Porto will make it through to the final, despite Famalicão having that expectation, even because the coach has rested some players against Sporting”, he also said.

Rui Quinta also praised the enthusiasm of the players to face any possible fatigue in the final phase of the season. “It is a phase in which it is necessary to understand what is best at each moment for each player. And Sérgio Conceição has demonstrated, in all his interventions, that he always opts for the best solutions at each moment, so that the team can win the games. Enthusiasm and positive emotion end up overcoming any fatigue that may have accumulated throughout this season”, he concluded.

FC Porto and Famalicão will face off from 20:30 on Thursday. The dragons won 2-1 in Minho.
