FC Porto Communications Director Accuses Sporting President of Coercing Refereeing Teams

Francisco J. Marques, communications director at FC Porto, criticized Frederico Varandas’ statements last Sunday, regarding the criticisms made by the Sporting president of the refereeing, especially that of João Pinheiro in the V. Guimarães-Sporting game. The Porto official accused the lions of having created the problems recorded at the D. Afonso Henriques Stadium and also left a warning for next Monday’s derby, in Alvalade, between the lions and the dragons. “The statements were aimed at the FC Porto game, they are to try to coerce the refereeing teams. This game was once again marked by a series of incidents carried out by Sporting players, and once again the first thing that Sporting does, As soon as the game ends, it’s trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes, transmitting the image that it had been a consequence of someone else’s actions, of people who don’t even have anything to do directly with the game, but the game’s images came to deny Rúben Amorim. It was the player Neto who threw a ball at a ball catcher and that is what caused the riot. What happened was the responsibility of the Sporting players, the Sporting staff, the Sporting directors, it has happened in several stadiums across the country , it was in Famalicão, Dragão and many other places, in addition to being a team made up of many players specialized in cheating. For example, in the penalty that was transformed, defender Matheus Reis threw himself onto the ground out of nowhere , there are images that explain how he tries to trick the referee into issuing a yellow card to an opponent. These are people who don’t behave very well and this is particularly worrying, because our next championship game is against Sporting. We are going to be provoked, they are going to try to trap us with this type of events, we have to be very vigilant and attentive”, said Francisco J. Marques, at Porto Canal.
