FC Porto Cancels Extraordinary General Assembly: Lack of Purpose and Superior Council Decision

It is confirmed: the Extraordinary General Assembly of FC Porto, scheduled for next Monday, November 20th, at 9 pm, will not take place.

The confirmation came this Saturday morning, through an official communication available on the FC Porto website and signed by the President of the General Assembly, José Lourenço Pinto.

In the document, it is explained that «at the request» of the «management» of FC Porto and taking into account the decision of the Superior Council, last Thursdayto withdraw the proposal to revise the statutes, the Extraordinary General Assembly was canceled “due to a clear lack of purpose”.

«At the request of the Honorable Management of Futebol Clube do Porto, in view of the Deliberation of the Superior Council of the 16th of this month, which decided to withdraw the Proposal regarding the approval of the new Club Statutes – Point 1 of the Call for Notice of 3.11.2023 – , I cancel the Continuation of the Extraordinary General Assembly previously scheduled for the 20th of this month, at 9pm, at Pavilhão Dragão Arena, located at Via Futebol Clube do Porto, in Porto, due to a clear lack of purpose», it can be read, in official communication.

It should be remembered that the Extraordinary General Assembly last Monday, the 13th, was marked by scenes of violence, ending up being suspended and rescheduled.

At stake were several points of change to the statutes for the electoral act that will take place in 2024.
