The FC Porto Academy will be built in the municipality of Maia, in fact, in partnership with the Maia City Council, as stated by Pinto da Costa.
With construction scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2024, it will be built in a space of 20 hectares, with 22 thousand square meters of construction.
As for infrastructure, according to the news on the FC Porto channel, it will have a stadium with 2500 covered seats and the capacity to host II League games, being destined for the main games of the youth teams.
The FC Porto Academy will also include nine grass pitches with official dimensions – four of them will have stands with 400 seats – and lighting. A grass 7-a-side football field is also planned.
The main building will house Casa do Dragão and a technical sports area, with Casa do Dragão being a residential space for athletes hosted by FC Porto, consisting of 70 double rooms, study and leisure areas and also a restaurant area, this one with a announced capacity for 500 daily meals.
Administrative services, auditorium, meeting rooms and spaces for scouting, team managers, psychology, pedagogical area, among others, will also be in the main building, which also includes changing rooms for athletes and coaches.
In this area, according to the Porto Canal news, “medical areas are also planned, including hydrotherapy areas, medical offices and a gym measuring around 1000 m2.”
The entire complex will have a logistical support area that will ensure operation and maintenance.
As for the location, the FC Porto Academy will be in the Parque Metropolitano da Maia, a green space with around 300 hectares.
