From April 29 to May 19, 2023, the African Cup of Nations (CAN) U17 will take place in Algeria. Younes Benali, so far an (important) player in the FC Nantes U17 squad, saw his contract terminated after informing the club of his participation in the competition with the Algerian selection.
A fact that created a small controversy on social networks, since the rumor claimed that the reason for the breakup was due to the choice of nationality of the 16-year-old midfielder.

But in reality, as specified by the newspaper in particular The TeamFC Nantes has terminated the contract of its player for a completely different reason.
The CAN U17 being disputed outside the FIFA dates, FC Nantes is not in agreement for its players to participate. Younes Benali having nevertheless decided to participate, the Yellow-Et-Vert club then terminated his contract.
