“Dear supporters, I wanted to write you these few words to say goodbye. After 4 seasons spent in the Nantes jersey, a new opportunity is offered to me, not far from here (…) I am leaving FC Nantes, but I have not forgotten you. Thank you for everything. » Ludovic Blas spoke the day before yesterday on social networks, to formalize his departure. Arrived in 2019, the ex-Guingampais was the technical leader of a team that will go down in history (winner of the Coupe de la France 2022, 16th runner-up in the Europa League against Juventus). Thanks to this generation, the Canaries experienced their moment of resurrection. The departure of Ludovic Blas turns, in a sense, a page. In this new summer transfer window, the Nantes leaders must rebuild a quality workforce, so as not to relive the same ordeal as last season. Many elements have left Jonelière (Corchia, Charles Traoré, Guessand, Joao Victor). The latter were at the end of the contract or in return for a loan. The Algerian international Andy Delort, meanwhile, has also just officially left the West of France. According to information from the team, an agreement for 2.5 million has been reached by the FCN and the Qatari club Umm Salal.
Protected frames
According to the same newspaper, the direction of departures should be less animated soon. The Yellows and Greens have decided to retain several executives for next season : Quentin Merlin (21 years old, 2026), Pedro Chirivella (26 years old, 2026), Jean-Charles Castelletto (28 years old, 2026), Andrei Girotto (31 years old, 2024), brought to extend, like Samuel Moutoussamy (26 years old, 2024), or even Fabien Centonze (27 years old, 2027). Only the doorman of the team Alban Lafont, another executive, has an exit voucher, as in the previous exercise. However, this will only be effective until the end of July, given that the market in this area is very particular. Note that Moussa Sissoko (33, 2024) and Moses Simon (27, 2024) are not in Pierre Aristouy’s plans. The former French international and the Nigerian international will not be retained, in the event of a satisfactory offer.
Clear ideas among leaders
In the direction of arrivals, Canary leaders have clearly established several priorities for the coming weeks. According to Simon Reungoat, journalist at HitWest and present in “Podcast Nantes”, the FCN would like to recruit in 3 specific areas. First of all, the club is looking for a left-back, despite the presence of Quentin Merlin and Jaouen Hadjam. This request can be explained by the fact that the latter has already been the subject of an offer (from Salernitana). Afterwards, Nantes would like to strengthen the midfield sector, to accompany Pedro Chirivella and Samuel Moutoussamy, even Andrei Girotto. To conclude, the Canaries are looking for two attackers, called “fast”. If the leaders have already decided to exercise the purchase option (up to 6 million euros) of Mostafa Mohamed (25 years old, ex-Galatasaray), they want to recruit an axial profile, in addition to another versatile winger. FC Nantes will also seek to compensate for possible departures. Now that the dice are cast, the Canaries can launch their transfer window, in the direction of arrivals!
