FC Nantes. Jean-Charles Castelletto blocked in the case of sports betting

76 players and staff members of professional football teams have been sanctioned by the Professional Football League. They played on sports betting sites, which is strictly prohibited.

After participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the Cameroonian selection, Jean-Charles Castelletto returns to reality.

He is one of 72 players pinned by the Professional Football League (LFP), for playing on sports betting sites, between 2020 and 2021, which is strictly prohibited.

The defender of the Cameroonian national team therefore receives a 4-match ban, the decision should therefore not jeopardize his recovery with FC Nantes.

A total of 76 professional footballers, coaches and club officials have been identified by the Professional Football League (LFP) for playing on betting sites.

Also on the LFP roster are the names of two former canaries, who currently play together with SO Cholet: Bridge Ndilu and Nathan Gassama. The former receives a three-game suspension, of which two are suspended, while the latter will be suspended for one game.

As for Le Mans FC, Maxence Derrien receives a two-match ban, while Théo Eyoum is punished more severely with a 4-match ban. Keheran Ganova, who plays in Angers SCO’s B team, suffers exactly the same penalty and will be barred from playing the next matches for his team.

In a press release published on Monday, the Disciplinary Commission points the finger at these professionals who “did not comply with the ban on sports betting set out in the Sport Code”. A ban on “all football competitions, domestic or foreign”.

The League is sad to see such behavior despite the “awareness or information campaigns” executed “with the clubs on a daily basis”. The sanctions were thus taken by the disciplinary commission, after hearing the players, the coaches and the coach nailed.
