FC Marbach loses: KO in added time

Despite their clear superiority, FC Marbach lost 0-1 to Phönix Lomersheim. In the district league we are approaching the relegation zone.

“If we don’t score in this game, then in which one?” asks Matteo Battista frustrated after his FC Marbach game. The district league team lost 1-0 to TSV Phönix Lomersheim, now tied on points, and lost three important points. By conceding a goal in the 91st minute.

Before this bitter end, FC could easily have won the game on their side. “You might not believe it if you weren’t there. But a 5-0 win wouldn’t have been exaggerated,” says Battista. His coaching colleague almost apologized when shaking hands after the final whistle. “I just have to blame my team for not being ripped off and callous enough,” said Battista. The Marbachers had the better playing system and a multitude of chances. But nothing quantifiable came of it.

Next player banned with red

Luis Herre alone could have scored two or three goals in the first half. Once he hit the post, once he lobbed too high. And Lomersheim? They had a great chance in the first half, which came about by chance: after an unsuccessful cross, the ball hit the post.

And yet, in the end, Phoenix left the field as winners. After a corner, a Lomersheim player easily headed in at the deserted far post (91′). “We didn’t defend well,” said the FC coach angrily.

Also bitter: His team received another red card, this time it went to Steffen Leibold in the 85th minute for an emergency stop. “We’re collecting the cards like ripe apples,” says Battista bitterly. He now appeals to his men as Marbach is slipping more and more towards the relegation zone with seven points from seven games. “If you don’t understand it now, you’re in the wrong place. Then it will be very difficult for us.”
