FC Löffingen Secures Relegation in Dramatic Victory over SV Hölzlebruck in Football District League

Football district league: FC Löffingen – SV Hölzlebruck 3: 1 (0: 1). – “It was a difficult day!” said Löffingen coach Fabian Niederprüm shortly after the end of the game. He seemed visibly relieved to have secured relegation in his hands at the very end, despite all the adversities. After the winter break, the team took over Niederprüm in last place with 15 points and then had a brilliant second half of the season with 28 points from the last 16 games.

“We always knew that we couldn’t rely on anyone but ourselves,” said Niederprüm. The result from Pfaffenweiler, Hochemmingen won 4:2, proved him right. At first it seemed as if the mortgage of the first half of the season would put a spanner in the works for the Löffingen team. In the 31st minute, SV Hölzlebruck took the lead through Koch before Baumann was able to equalize in the 68th minute.

Nevertheless, the Löffinger were on a relegation zone until the 88th minute. But then Simon Weißenberger ensured the much-acclaimed 2:1, which Kaufmann even followed up with the crowning glory in the 92nd minute. Niederprüm saw “not a nice game” and many missed chances. In the end he was just happy with his team, which never gave up: with 400 spectators, pyrotechnics on both sides and a brilliant second half of the season, at the end of which there was relegation.
