Borussia Dortmund almost humiliated Koln in the Bundesliga continuation. Erling Haaland became Dortmund’s savior to close the match to 2-2.

Competing at the RheinEnergie Stadium, Saturday (20/3/2021), Dortmund was able to lead 1-0 over Cologne in the third minute. Utilizing Emre Can’s bait ball, Erling Haaland finished with a goal from close range.

Dortmund had the opportunity to increase the advantage in the eighth minute. Thorgan Hazard opens a shot from close range, but the ball can still be blocked by the opponent.

Koln just fired his first shot in the 21st minute. The ball that Jonas Hector released from inside the penalty box still hit the Dortmund wall.

Koln awarded a penalty in the 34th minute. The referee decided to punish Dortmund after the results of the VAR check prevented Jude Bellingham from carrying out a handball.

Ondrej Duda came forward as executor. Marwin Hitz failed to stop the shot ball and the score changed to 1-1.

Dortmund missed in the 65th minute. Ismail Jakobs managed to tear the goal of Edin Terzic’s team after taking advantage of Thomas Meunier’s blunder. Koln turned 2-1 ahead.

Dortmund tried hard to find a goal back and dominate possession. Koln’s very strong defense made the visitors’ hard work often stagnate.

In the 80th minute, Dortmund almost tore Koln’s goal. Receiving feedback from the stomach, Erling Haaland successfully gore the ball into the far post. The Norwegian striker’s effort this time hit the crossbar.

A surging attack from Dortmund could only undermine the Koln defense in the 90th minute. Ansgar Knauff sends Erling Haaland in a low cross and from very close range he hits the ball into the net.

There are no additional goals during injury time. Dortmund had to settle for a 2-2 draw and brought home one point.

Dortmund are now stuck in fifth place in the Bundesliga standings with 43 points. Koln sit in 14th place after collecting 23 points.
